If you’ve haven’t used Zoom before, please download Zoom to your computer or smartphone. Zoom is free to download and use for classes.
Thirty minutes before class, check for your personalized Zoom link to attend. It may be in your promotional or spam folder. If you’ve checked all your folders and still can not find your link, please email liya@aurakundaliniyoga.com for help.
You don’t need any special equipment to attend class, but these things can be helpful…
Dress in any clothing that allows you to move through yoga poses easily and sit in meditation comfortably. Bring a sweater or blanket to cover up with while meditating.
Kundalini Yoga is traditionally practiced wearing white cotton clothing with a white head covering. You’ll see students wearing all different colors at Aura.
Kundalini Yoga is called the Yoga of Awareness. It is a dynamic, powerful tool that is designed to give you an experience of your soul.
In Kundalini Yoga we harness the mental, physical, and nervous energies of the body and put them under the domain of the will, which is the instrument of the soul. This technology precisely and consciously combines breath, mudra, eye-focus, mantra, body locks, and postures to balance the glandular system, strengthen the nervous system, expand lung capacity, and purifiy the blood. It brings balance to the body, mind, and soul.
Aura’s weekly classes are open to students with all levels of experience. Our teachers will offer verbal corrections and alternative postures for different fitness levels.
If it’s your first class, take things slow and drink plenty of water. Kundalini Yoga is an experience that you’ll feel on multiple levels just by being in the room. Try your best. Remember you can always relax on your back or in child’s pose at any point during class.
In order to encourage the downward flow from your womb to the earth, we avoid squeezing the womb at this time. If you’re on the first three days of your moon cycle (menstrual cycle) or more than 120 days pregnant, you can replace breath of fire with long deep breathing. You can also skip root lock (MulBandh), abdominal holds, leg lifts, and any other stressors on your womb area.
If you are pregnant, check out one of Liya Garber’s weekly classes. Introduce yourself to Liya before the class so she can help you with alternative postures. You can either speak up on the Zoom call before she get’s started or pop a note in the messenger box.
